How Amen to Action got its start.

2016-2017 marked a year of milestones: the 200th Birthday of the City of Pittsburgh, the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, and the 50th Anniversary of the Closing of the Second Vatican Council.

As a result, a group of Pittsburgh church leaders and lay men and women contemplated the confluence of these events and began a series of prayer meetings to discern a vision for a major city-wide happening celebrating local reconciliation and unity in the Body of Christ.

Our shared goal developed to connect people of all faiths, creating a platform of unity and amassing spiritual capital more powerful than “all the coal in the hills and steel in the mills…that Pittsburgh will become a spiritual power plant for the rest of the world.”
