How Amen to Action got its start.
2016-2017 was a year of milestones: the 200th birthday of the city of Pittsburgh, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, and the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Council.
Reflecting on the confluence of these events, a group of Pittsburgh church leaders and laymen and women began a series of prayer meetings to devise a vision for a major city-wide happening celebrating local reconciliation and unity in the Body of Christ.
Our shared goal was to connect people of all faiths, creating a platform of harmony and amassing spiritual capital more potent than “all the coal in the hills and steel in the mills—and that Pittsburgh would become a spiritual power plant for the rest of the world.”
